Description
The EUI Sant Pau, began in 2017 the deployment of the project to incorporate Clinical Simulation in the training and education of students and healthcare professionals in the different stages of their training (undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education). In the 2020/21 academic year, we open the doors of the new simulation area located in the annexed spaces next to the school.
Clinical simulation is a learning methodology that consists of presenting hypothetical care situations through the creation of scenarios that represent reality, and that allows us to train and evaluate future health professionals, facilitating the achievement of the skills specific to the profession, with the aim of guaranteeing higher quality, more efficient and safer care for the person.
This is a student-centered methodology with immediate feedback from teachers that places the student in front of different levels of experiences that will enhance their active participation by integrating the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to take care of people; from basic skills such as sterile field preparation, assisted bathing, probing, sutures and staples, structured communication, structured assessment of the person, etc., to simulated care situations and clinical cases that promote aspects of one's own role, decision-making, ethical competence, communication, teamwork and leadership in care, avoiding the risk of causing any harm to the patient, since they are carried out with the help of simulated patients, whether actors or life-size mannequins, which bring great realism to this learning.
