Access through Transfer of Foreign University Studies

Requirements

You can access a degree program through this route if you have completed university studies abroad, either partially or fully, and have not obtained official recognition or equivalence of your degree in Spain.

Those who have obtained official recognition or equivalence of their degree in Spain must apply for admission through the university degree admissions process.

One of the requirements is that 30 or more credits from the degree program for which you are applying must be recognized, and your previous academic record must not show any courses that have been enrolled in and failed for the fourth or more times. However, if 75% or more of the total credits of the destination degree program are recognized, you will not be admitted, except in cases where there are vacancies and the corresponding Vice-Rectorate of the UAB authorizes it.

For the purposes of credit recognition and the evaluation of academic records from previous studies, only the grades obtained up to the application deadline will be considered.

The Ministry of Education offers a free online process to obtain a certificate of equivalency for grade point averages (GPAs) from studies and university degrees completed abroad, equivalent to the corresponding Spanish university degrees. This certificate can be submitted in competitive admissions processes where academic record evaluation is required. You can find the instructions at this link.

Please also note the following:

  • If you are granted credit recognition for 30 or more credits, you cannot apply for admission to the UAB in the same academic year through any other university admission route. If you are awarded between 1 and 29 credits, you may apply for admission through the university pre-registration process only to the degree program and institution specified in the credit recognition resolution, and with a minimum grade of 5.
  • If you are not awarded any credits, you must follow the general admissions procedure.
